| Q. I have filled out a Membership Registration and I have not received a confirmation e-mail. A. More than likely you are using AOL. AOL has a problem with the SPAM filters in the AOL browsers and it is treating a lot of e-mails as SPAM. Therefore you aren`t getting all your e-mail. Especially software updates, newsletters, and bulletins. I know most of it is junk, but the ones that are important you may not be getting. It has been so difficult to communicate with AOL members that many websites are now starting to exclude AOL members from their websites unless they use another e-mail address.
SUGGESTION: If your internet connection is DSL or Cable, then those providers include in their packages, internet connection, e-mail addresses etc. etc. All this is included in the connection fee. My point is why pay twice for internet connection.
I have included below the instructions on how to setup your AOL SPAM filters. If adjusting your filters does not work call the AOL Postmaster at (888) 212-5537 and complain. Adjusting the filters has not worked in 99% of the cases since it appears in most cases AOL blocks incoming email before it gets to their customer`s computer.
Because of the AOL program`s filter system I have no idea who is and is not receiving Bulletins or Newsletters and or having problems with what they do receive. AOL & Compuserve (or any other subsidiary of AOL) users experiencing difficulty receiving Bulletins and Newsletters and other messages can in many cases rectify this problem by accessing and adjusting the spam settings in their AOL program as follows:
1. To access these settings click on Safety (The word) on the tool bar and then click on Spam Control. About two thirds of the way down there is a blue bar. It says Off, Low, Medium, & High. Depending on the setting selection some messages will be sent to the New Mail Box, others will be sent to the Spam Folder. Click "Off" or whatever setting will allow the Bulletin through. Other filter settings you may want to adjust that could cause intermittent receipt of the Bulletin are Words & Phrases,Sender Filter, and Content Filter.
2. IF you have AOL 9.0 Optimize SE click "Settings" on the upper bar. The Settings window will appear with many topics that are listed from A thru Z. Under "S", Click on Spam Controls. The Mail and Spam Controls window to AOL Advance Spam Filter window will appear in the Center Screen. It has the Filter slide bar, which indicates:
OFF,LOW,MEDIUM,&HIGH.Click on the setting you desire, and the slide indicator will go to that position. Additional Spam Filters are shown below the slide bar that indicate the following:
*Words and Phrases Filter OFF/ON Edit
*Sender Filter OFF/ON Edit
*Content Filter OFF/ON Edit
When you click on the Edit of any of the three items it will bring up an additional window with several options on which you can click. Select the one you desire with the dot in the circle.
*Example: Words and Phrases: (Window appears to identify words & phrases you want blocked)
*Example: Senders Filter Should:(5 options to select from).
*Example: Blocked Mail Should: (2 options to select from).
Once you have the Mail and Spam Control SETTINGS you want set - click on SAVE. Solution added - 22nd Jan 2006 08:35
| Q. Why do I have to fill out so many details in the application? A. SPAMMERS, Pranks, and Idiots. I can`t say it any simpler. The addresses are encrypted and not accessible by anyone. No need to worry about that. However, your Service Data is very important. This data is displayed in The Member Profiles. Other members can view these profiles and who knows, it could be someone you know and served with in the same unit during the same years. This is what brings friends together who haven`t seen each other in years. I know it did for me. I re-united with a couple of guys I haven`t seen in over 40 years . Q. Why is the Site Layout is all over the place? A. This site is best viewed at 1024x768 at 32 bit color. At the minimum your display setting should be set no lower than 800x600 at 16 bit color. Anything less would probably make viewing this site very poor. This site has been tested with Internet Explorer, Netscape and Firefox. Opera users will see a slight difference.

| Q. Why is the Web Page completely off my screen? A. This site is best viewed at 1024x768 at 32 bit color. | Q. How do I change the resolution? A. Point your mouse to an area on your desktop where there are no Icons. Right click the mouse and a menu box will appear. Select properties. Then select the Settings Tab at the top of the display properties window. In the settings dialog box you will see a slider that will change the resolution. Slide that bar to 1024x768. If your graphic card and monitor will not go that high then select 800x600.

Q. When I hit the back button on my browser, why does the next page take so long to display? A. The system is designed to keep you within the website. Always use the HOME link located in the upper left hand corner to navigate within the site. Unless you click on a feature that takes you to a different website or where a feature is loaded to a separate page. Then it would be best to click on the X at the top right hand corner of that page to close it and return to the site. Solution added - 22nd Jan 2006 08:44
| Q. How do I Download files? A. First you must select the Download Page from the Navigation Menu in the upper left hand block. Once you have arrived at the download site you will see it is pretty self explanatory. The files selected for download will automatically display a download window where you will click the save button. The files that state (PDF) will open in a separate page to read or print to printer. If you wish to save a file that is a .pdf file simply right click and select "Save file as." Solution added - 22nd Jan 2006 08:46

Q. I was a member and now I have to re-apply. Why? A. When I created this new site I used a different programming platform. The two sites are as different as night and day. The major problem was transferring all membership information to the new database. The two were not compatible and it would have taken me a year to re-enter all the members one at a time. That is why I have asked all of you to re-join the site. I apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused you.
